Vintage button covers, late 60's early 70's I am guessin. These were a gift to my mom from her brother who was a designer. He knew how she loved to sew and would find things on his trips to shows in NYC. She was always ahead of the game in fashion thanks to him.
Now...what can I do with these! Any ideas? What would you do?
I'd make a multi-colored badge lanyard with the two button covers with center "gems" turned into beads somehow and put near the end clasps and the two other covers mid-way up the strands with a rainbow of Czech druks and gold-tone spacers between them and around the neckline...but that's me :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and so interesting! I love Dawno's idea, they will definitely stand out. I have a tendency to use things like this as focal pieces. Using this as the focal bead on a bracelet or necklace with some low profile beads or chain. I was just thinking it would be cool to bundle up lots of distressed strands of chain and wire the focal button cover on somehow. Hmm, too bad I can't scan you over what I see in my head :) Dawno, isn't there a way to do that yet in the futuristic IT world?
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas!
ReplyDeleteas far as the futuristic IT world - you can now post on twitter just by thinking. they have done it.
it wont' be long and we will have the options of a wet jack.
That's a cool idea, too, Lisa.
ReplyDeleteI really, really don't want people to see *everything* I'm thinking...I hope any tech for direct mental transference always has some way to keep unconscious or "for internal use only" kinds of thoughts to ourselves! I have enough trouble already when my mouth sometimes circumvents my mental filters!
