Art Abandonment - Flood the Streets with Art III

It is happening again!!!!

I am so excited to be part of the flood this year. I had fun hiding packages in plain sight last year for people to pick up.

What is Flood the Streets with Art??? Glad you asked :)

Here is a blurb from their Facebook page : The goal is simple: On BLACK FRIDAY (Nov. 27th, 2015) I want every artist, human being, man, woman & child on our planet to drop one piece art they've created on the streets of their community for a random stranger to find, pick up, take home & love. Yes, for FREE.

Want to be part of the flood?? Check out Scott Wongs Facebook event

It is gonna be fun!!!

I am making jewelry and branching out into painting and crocheting this year :)

What will you be flooding the streets with?!!

Revisitng Old Designs - Finding New Meaning

Strolling down memory lane thru the photo albums on my Facebook page, I found a bunch of old earring designs that were simple statements, and really nice. I had moved away from that style and many others in my quest for the perfect design, and find it funny that when I revisit them, I am amazed at what I had done in my infant stages of creativity and really wonder why I left it.

So I decided to use my own designs as inspiration and made a few new pairs.

These are just simple copper loops, hammered at the bottom of the loop to create stability and offer texture.

Then add one bead as an accent. Maybe add spacers or crystals to help it talk a bit louder.

Yes I said talk, that is what my jewelry does, it talks. It speaks to the soul thru the energies of the stones.

My jewelry speaks of love and hope, kindness and peace. All things that are needed in our day to day lives, but may get lost due to job or life stress. My jewelry is a little reminder that it is ok, there is hope, someone does love you and it is possible to find peace.

August Already!!!! Where Has The Time Gone?!?!?

My daughter and I joke that January is the slowest month of the year. It seems to take January forever to pass, and then when it does, the next thing you know it is August. That has held true this year!!!

I still have more flowers to plant, more places to visit, more yard sales to go to, more books to read, more canvases to paint, more jewelry to create, more walks on the beach, more rides in the mountains to do, and it is already August, I feel so overwhelmed!

Those were my exact thoughts this morning and a panic rose up in me that I have no time, that I have so much to do and no time to get it done. With that followed a feeling of 'Why try" there isn't enough time, so why even try. That really upset me and got me to thinking. The words we choose and they way we order them have so much power over us. Instead of thinking there isn't enough time and making myself feel so rushed, and then unfulfilled because the items on my list have not been crossed off, I said, "There is plenty of time".

That was my meditation this morning. "There is enough time"

I am keeping it that simple. I am not bogging down that simplistic mind set with - but you have so much to do, you have things that really need to get done today, you have appointments, you have to organize to fit it all in the day, you have to, you have to , you have to.......

I realize I do have to, and because of that, why fret over it. Why add that stress to my day, when I know I have things I need to do.  Just start the laundry and move on to the next task, next item on my list and know - There is enough time. I am going to stop limiting myself because I think there isn't enough. I am going to open up my opportunities because I do have time.

I already feel lighter as I type this out, and when I press publish, I have crossed something off my list of things to do today, and I have time to tackle something else.

I have enough time today!!!!!

And as always..I send you love and peace.
Be blessed!

Thrift Store Finds Help Create Nature Friendly Haven In My Yard!!!!!

Thrift stores make my creative side squeal with joy!

My mind goes into overdrive and I have to seriously monitor myself. I make a specific budget for the project at hand and don't allow myself to go over that. It definatley adds to the excitement of thrift shopping because I really have to dig to find what will fit into my budget :)

My daughter inspired me with her raised garden this year, and with her bee waterers. The bee population is declining, and it scares the crap out of me. I added several bee friendly flowering plants to my yard this year in hopes of attracting more bees, and to help our neighbor up the street who keeps bees. Don't want the colony to decline, I love buying his honey :)

I struck out Sunday with me bestie in search of items to add to my yard for watering and feeding the insects and animals in my yard. $20 limit. We hit the thrift store and dollar store and collected these fun things (minus the pliers). Glass tea cups with handle, wire, marbles, silver sugar bowls, small crock and candle plate.

I have a closet organizer hanging in my tree, lined with burlap and soil to plant flowers in. These little cups hang perfectly from it!!! Added some grain, and it is buffet time for the birds.

I have a couple shepherds hooks in the yard that need something hanging from them. Wrapped the candle plate in wire, added the marbles and hung it from the hook. Add some water, just to the top of the marbles, and you have a safe surface for bees and dragonflies to land on and drink with no worries of drowning!!!!

Same principle here with this little crock! Placed it in the middle of my roses.

A wrought iron wall decoration was perfect to hang the little silver sugar bowls off of and fill with grain, and water.

It is the little things we can do to make our corner of the planet a little more safe and secure. Now the fun begins with sitting the yard, painting and watching all the critters take delight in their new feeders and waterers !!!!

Earring Club - New From Just A Tish Designs

I've done it! I have made an earring club.

I got a call from my daughter, who had been brainstorming about my business, after talking to several of her friends when they asked her about her jewelry.  She says, "Ma! you need to do a club - an earring club." We chatted, hashed out some ideas, created a road map - and guess what!?! It is live!!!!

The most fun to come out of Just A Tish Designs! It's easy! Whether shopping for yourself or for someone else - fun is sure to be had by everyone! This is a purchase for the adventurous spirit. The person who loves a surprise. Don't hint at what your favorite color or stone is. If you feel like you need to be in control, and getting a surprise package in the mail works your nerves - this is not for you. If you have sensitive ears, and have metal allergies, this is not the purchase for you. It is meant to be a TOTAL surprise and fun. Let's keep it that way ;)

It will be fun, there are 3 options of the level of commitment you want to make.

Monthly -

3 Month purchase

12 Month purchase

Kinda like this -

You choose which option works best for you - a monthly purchase, a 3 month purchase or a 12 month purchase, then sit back and let me do the rest. Your first pair of earrings should ship in about three days after your purchase. After that, depending on what option you chose, earrings will ship out the first Monday of the month.

Let me break it down for you -

Monthly - (The Test Drive)

You will make your initial purchase, just as you would any Etsy purchase. You will receive a pair of earrings, artists choice. Earrings are valued between $15 and $20. It is just like making any Etsy purchase, you are only doing it once, the only difference, I am choosing the earrings for you.

3 months - (The Dare Devil)

You will pay up front for 3 pairs of earrings. Because you are paying up front, you are already saving $2 per pair! Sit back and relax, I will do the rest. Once a month for 3 months, you will get a surprise package in the mail - You will receive a pair of earrings, artists choice. Earrings are valued between $15 and $20. But I'm not done yet! Once you have fulfilled your commitment, and have have received all 3 pairs of earrings, on the 4th month, you will receive a free pair!!! Returns or refunds will void the free gift.

12 months - (All In)
This is the best deal!
You will pay up front for 12 pairs of earrings. Because you are paying up front you are already saving $5 per pair!!! Sit back and relax, I will do the rest. Once a month for the next 12 months, you will get a surprise package in the mail - You will receive a pair of earrings, artists choice. Earrings are valued between $15 and $20. But I'm not done yet!! Once you have fulfilled your commitment, and you have received all 12 pairs of earrings, on the 13th month, you will receive a free necklace valued between $35 and $50!!! Returns or refunds will void the free gift.

And as always - Free shipping!!!

The rest is up to you! Make your choice today!

Rhyolite and Jasper Necklace

Here is the first of my designs using this years Spring palette that I wrote about in my last entry.
Rhyolite focal stone with jasper, swarovski crystal and light blue glass beads.  I pulled the colors for the beads from the focal stone.

Jasper is a tender stone allowing itself to bestow gentleness on the wearer.

I am always in awe at the color combinations that are found in nature that just work!

Fun New Dangle Necklaces!!!

I am all about the dangle, the charm look. I keep going back to this type of design.

When I first started making jewelry it was just a natural progression to hand wrap beads and hang them on chain. Just the next step in learning jewelry design, so to speak.

I re visited that old design and have come up with these :)

I call these "Anything Goes"

This is a fun idea to use up the one offs that you have laying around from other designs. It makes a great collection of color, textures and sizes.  Even as you re purpose your older jewelry, set a couple beads behind, and you can make a memory necklace for yourself!!!!!

Right now these are only available locally at The Green Monkey, but I promise you will be seeing them soon in my Etsy store!!!

When Good Ideas Go Wrong

GRRRRR!!!!! I could just spit I am so mad!!!

Working on a new pair of earrings, well I was - and then this happened. The seed bead broke.

It literally was all I could do to not wad it up in a ball and throw it in the trash.

What do you do when this happens?
