A lot of times you will see serpentine sold as jade. But this isn't the case. Serpentine has a waxy feel to its finish, and is light weight. It also makes more of a thunk when tapped. Jade has a glassy smoother finish and is heavier than it looks. It also makes a 'tink' when tapped. 

If you have bought this stone before, meaning serpentine, but you were told it was jade, never fear. Serpentine is a beautiful little stone with amazing properties!
